Crafting for a Cause

image

By now you all know that I like to make things.  Yes, I like to make for my myself and family but I also get great joy in making for other people-especially when it’s for a great cause.

So when I was introduced to Craft Hope last year I instantly knew I wanted to be a part of this.

From the Craft Hope website:

“Craft Hope is a love inspired project designed to share handmade crafts with those who need them.  It is our hope to combine our love for crafting and desire to help others into a project to make a difference around the world.”

They announced their latest project this past week.  Littlest Warriors brings handmade hats, beanies, and bags to pediatric cancer patients. They can be sewn, crochet, or knitted.  They don’t have to be fancy, there are lots of tutorials on the internet for no sew patterns. A quick little google search is all you need to get started.

Collage Frame Wall

Over this past summer I picked up some odd ball frames here and there for my collage wall I had planned in my dining room.  My original thought was to spray paint them all the same color but I noticed all my frames had great aged patina-a great “mix and match” feel to them.  This is just the base, I will add frames and pictures as I find them.

I wanted to be able to swap the pictures out easily so not many of the pictures are framed.

I covered the frame back in leftover polka dot fabric from the curtains and attached a simple tag that says “Blessings”

I took the glass out of several of the frames.  Attached vintage lace trim to the back and clipped the picture with a small clothes pin.

Later, this beautiful card arrived from a family member so it was added as well.IMG_3933

So many memories from this summer are on this wall. I love looking at them while we are eating dinner.

I tied kitchen string around this rustic frame, slide the picture in and your done! Instant frame. So easy to change out too!

Same thing for this frame. I kept the glass in and tied vintage lace around the frame like a gift. A little tape holds it in place.  I also liked the idea of taking decorative washi tape and taping one or two to the glass.

Framed scrapbook paper with the picture slid into the corners of the frame. Another easy one to swap out the pictures when I need a change!

Slate/Lee Family

The weather reached nearly 70 degrees the day we decided to do an impromptu outside photo shoot in January.  We decided to go to the park to see what kind of shots we could get.  These guys were awesome to work with.  Totally acted like themselves.  They just ignored me and had fun together so I could do my thing.

Craft room progress

progress is being made on the craft room.  It’s still not ‘photo ready’, there is still plenty of work to be done. I’ve been doing a little bit each night after dinner so it’s slow moving… but it’s progress..

I snapped a few pictures of progress

Crunch Time

Thanks Kelly for the pin!

This has pretty much summed up my weekend. Progress has been made on moving the craft room but it has been slow going.  But today is crunch time and I have a feeling I’ll get there.  I’ll share some pictures tomorrow.  That’s all for today, time to organize!

A Weekend Project

Good Friday morning! I have a a 4 day weekend ahead of me and I’m going to need it.

This is what I’m working on for 2 solid days and during nap time on during Saturday and Sunday

Yes, this is my craft room. I totally look like I could be on an episode of hoarders, right? Seriously. It’s bad.  I can’t work in here let alone be inspired in this space. It’s been dumping ground for months and it’s time to clean.it. up.

I’ll actually be moving this space to a different part of the basement.  I should have more room to spread out.

Here is my inspiration

Address Change

Just an FYI that I’ve changed my domain from hartsdesire.wordpress.com to hartsdesirecreations.com.

WordPress seems to be redirecting all traffic and Google Reader seems to recognize the change. But I wanted to let everyone know incase you need to update any bookmarks or feeds.

I apologize for any inconvenience but I feel it is a step in the right direction for the blog as a whole and should make things easier down the road.
