This family. Oh my goodness this family. I always look forward to their sessions and this past fall was nothing short of amazing. They live in the most beautiful place in the county; among mountains, streams, and the most gorgeous fall color you ever laid eyes on. Enjoy!
Oh how I love this little family. I’ve documented baby B’s parents engagement and then wedding. Watching and documenting their family grow from 2 to now 3 has been such a blessing. THIS is why I’m only offering in-home documentary photography for families in 2016. Documenting your REAL life, real connections, real emotions. Because REAL IS BEAUTIFUL. You feel most comfortable in your own home so it feels only natural to document you where are you most comfortable.
We already had our vacation plans set to go to the beach in June, but when an opportunity came up to spend an extra week at the beach? and at a beautiful sound-side home? we’d have to have been crazy to turn that down!
The most beautiful ‘non beach’ beach house I’ve ever set foot in.
It was originally a hunting/fishing lodge. The house has been restored and remodeled. The owners kept as much original as they could.
Original wood floors. Even the numbers on the old lodge doors were kept.
The ‘softest blanket ever’ was a gift right before this trip. He has slept with it every night since it was given to him.
What came first? The horses or the people? It’s hard to tell as the horses aren’t bothered by people at all.
These guys were literally right outside our door and crabbed all day. We were lucky enough to get almost a bushel of crabs before they hit the fish markets.
I find it amusing the things he decides to ‘collect’. He was fascinated with the crab claws.

Another year has gone by and she keeps getting more grown up and more beautiful.
I stopped by her house so she could show me her rabbit and new puppy.
We walked next door to her Grammie’s. How great to grow up so close to family!
Our little guy graduated kindergarten this past week! Man how time flies!! We wanted to do something special for his teachers as a thank you for the last 3 years(he goes to a Montessori School and has the same teacher since he was 3 and in Pre-K). We decided to make a flower arrangement for each and instead of buying something pre-made, he wanted to cut flowers from our yard. He cut all the flowers and I helped with the arranging.
He added lavender and lemon balm so the arrangements would smell good. I think his favorite part is rubbing the lemon balm leaves so he can smell the yummy fragrance!
And the final arrangements. His teachers loved them!

My parents recently sold their dream home. They built the house they would raise 2 children in over 25 years ago. They decided to close this season of their lives to start a new season in a new, smaller home with little maintenance so they can enjoy their lives more. Before they turned the keys over the the new owner’s I wanted to document this time in their lives.
This mailbox is for my son. My mom and he put little treats in it for each other. He knows when the flag is up he has a little something waiting for him.
We planted this tree as a little sapling when my sister and I were young.
Strawberry season doesn’t last long enough around Virginia. We took full advantage of the beautiful weather to get out and enjoy the season.
Congratulations to the new couple and the new family they have created together.
As we take this weekend to honor our mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, god mothers, and mother-like figures in our lives, I thought I’d take today’s blog post to showcase some of my favorite mother images I’ve taken over the years.
Enjoy your weekend with your loved ones.
I thought I’d take a break from the cold winter weather we’ve been experiencing in VA and share our September vacation pictures from Tennessee. We camped at South Holston and had a week of sun, water, relaxation, and fun! Just looking at these pictures again makes me want to go back!
Good gracious the sunsets were incredible on the lake.
I tried a little ‘free lensing’. Not sure I completely have the hang of it, but it was fun to try something new.
The view of our ‘backyard’ from our camp site. I’ll take it.
Lots of ducks and fish to feed at the docks.

It’s not everyday you see 3 huge houseboats side by side anchored in a lake.
